The body of a woman who had been brutally murdered was found at her home in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval area on Saturday, September 21. Mahalakshmi was the name of the deceased (29).
Her body was dismembered, with an approximate weight of 20 to 40 parts, and kept in a 165-litre refrigerator. Mahalakshmi’s death is thought to have occurred fifteen days ago.
She had turned off her phone on September 2nd of this year. The issue was discovered when the victim’s neighbours voiced complaints about an unpleasant stench.
The neighbourhood was blocked off and the police were called. The police retrieved the corpse parts covered in maggots and started their investigation. They also enlisted the assistance of the dog squad and forensic specialists.
Following her separation from her husband, Hemant Das, earlier this year, Mahalakshmi resided by herself in Bengaluru. Her birthplace was Nepal.
The victim’s 4-year-old daughter resides with her former spouse. Hemant Das also arrived at the crime scene after becoming aware of the situation. Every two weeks, he supposedly brought their child to Mahalakshmi’s home.
Mahalakshmi’s phone has been off since September 2, the police said, discussing the unsettling episode. Her mother and sister panicked and arrived at the house as she was unreachable.
The victim’s blood had seeped from the refrigerator door, and when we opened the door, we discovered maggots crawling all over the floor and a sticky mess. The body pieces that remained were arranged on the middle shelves, and the legs were chopped and placed on top of the refrigerator. They said, “The head was positioned at the bottom of the refrigerator.
The current case reminds us of the murder of Shraddha Walker, a 27-year-old, by her live-in lover, Aftab Amin Poonawalla. On May 18, 2022, he killed the woman by strangulation and then dismembered her body into 35 parts.
Aftab disposed of her body pieces at eighteen separate locations around the National Capital over several days. The horrific specifics and gravity of his horrific offence have shocked the nation. It was November when he was taken into custody.
