Pakistan is continuously sending narcotics in Punjab state, India by drone. Now Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit accused Pakistan of sending drugs to India. He said on Thursday that a ‘surgical strike’ should be carried out on the neighboring country to teach it a lesson, only then the neighboring country would reform. Purohit has also praised the Punjab government on the issue of drug seizures and handling the problem of drones being used to send drugs from across the border. In recent times, many drones coming from across the border have been shot down by BSF.
The governor is on a two-day tour of the border districts of the state. He said that the next generation should be stopped from getting addicted to drugs at any cost and said that if Pakistan is playing mischief with India, then one or two more ‘surgical strikes’ should be done on it. Purohit expressed satisfaction over the coordination between the Border Security Force (BSF), Army and central agencies like the Intelligence Bureau and the Punjab Police.
The governor slammed Pakistan for waging a ‘proxy war’ against India, saying it was doing so because it could not fight a direct war against the country. He expressed concern over the use of drones by Pakistan to send drugs and weapons into India and stressed on countering it effectively.
The governor said that he is 101 percent sure that the use of drones is not possible without the involvement of the Pakistani government or its military. “They have a stake in this and they want to destabilize us,” he said. Purohit accused Pakistan of trying to “make our next generation a drug addict”. He said he has received complaints that drugs have reached schools and students are getting addicted to drugs and stealing money from home to feed their addiction. He said that a ‘surgical strike’ should be done on Pakistan.
The governor said, “So far, India has not retaliated. I am not authorized, but it comes to mind that Pakistan is playing mischief with us. One or two ‘surgical strikes’ should be done against it. It Must be taught a lesson to correct.”
India carried out a ‘surgical strike’ across the Line of Control on 29 September 2016 in response to a terrorist attack on an army base in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
When asked about some leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) questioning his visits to border districts, Purohit said he is a governor who never gets involved in politics. The governor said, “I say again that I appreciate the police and the state government. The way (separatist) Amritpal (Singh) was arrested, it is commendable.”
However, he also said that if the state government goes outside the ambit of the Constitution, he will underline it and ‘whether they are happy or angry’, I don’t care.
