Due to unseasonal rains in Uttarakhand, water is wreaking havoc everywhere. Due to one-sided heavy rains and landslides, there have been obstacles in the Char Dham Yatra, while due to the landslide, traffic has stopped on the Lipulekh-Tawaghat road, which has strategic importance against China in Kumaon. Due to this, about 300 passengers going to Adi Kailash got stuck in Dharchula and Gunji. Due to heavy rains in Garhwal too, traffic has been stopped at many places due to falling of boulders and debris. Here too, passengers going to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham are stuck at various places on the way. The Meteorological Department has also issued an orange alert in the state for the next 24 hours, which means the weather is expected to worsen further. The Meteorological Department has advised pilgrims and tourists to take extreme precautions during the journey.
In Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, on the very important Lipulekh-Tawaghat highway leading to the China border, a mountain debris suddenly came down due to rain near Lakhanpur, about 45 km above Dharchula. The local administration said that about 100 meters of the road has been washed away. The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has started repairing the broken portion. Despite this, there is no possibility of traffic starting for the next two days.
After June 1, the Meteorological Department has now issued an orange alert for June 2. According to meteorologists, there is a possibility of dust storm in Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Dehradun, Garhwal, Haridwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi districts of the state, while light to heavy rain Might be possible. There is a possibility of good rains in the plains as well. After the rains on the mountains, due to the downwind winds, the temperature in the plains has dropped, due to which there is a possibility of respite from the heat till June 5.
The Meteorological Department has advised pilgrims and tourists to avoid travel if not needed. It has asked to wait for the weather to clear before traveling. Devotees going on Char Dham Yatra have been asked to take rain cover, umbrella and woolen clothes along with them. It has also been advised to park vehicles only after seeing the safe place.
