According to authorities, the 32nd group of Amarnath Yatris, which included around 1,100 pilgrims, departed the base camp here on Thursday for the sacred cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas under heavy security measures.
Since the Yatra’s start on July 1, more than 4.3 lakh pilgrims have shown their respects at the shrine’s 3888-meter height, according to the administration. On July 1, the 62-day annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath temple began from the dual tracks — the customary 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam path in Anantnag and the quicker 14-km Baltal route in the Ganderbal.
According to the authorities, a convoy of 43 trucks carrying 1,198 pilgrims — 1,023 men, 116 women, 58 seers, and a child — departed the Bhagwati Nagar base camp early on Thursday morning for the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam.
A convoy of 33 cars carrying up to 932 pilgrims departed for Pahalgam, while a another convoy of 10 vehicles carrying 266 pilgrims left for the Baltal base camp, they continued. On August 31, the Yatra is supposed to come to an end.
