No arrests would be made at Imran Khan’s home, the leader of the PTI, until Thursday at 2 p.m., according to Punjab Caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir, according to Dawn.
The PTI leadership had been given a 24-hour deadline to find the “30 to 40 terrorists” who had reportedly assaulted military locations and were being shielded within the Zaman Park house, according to Mir in an interview with a Pakistani media source. Mir said that no action would be done at Khan’s Zaman Park residence before the deadline, which ends at 2 p.m. on Thursday, in response to PTI leader Imran Khan voicing worries that he will be detained.
As reported by Dawn, he also refuted Imran Khan’s assertion that a decision to arrest him had been made.
The Punjab police shut off all access routes to PTI Chief Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore earlier today after he said that a re-arrest was inevitable.
Meanwhile, a handful of PTI supporters started gathering outside Zaman Park once again, according to Dawn, hours after the Punjab police surrounded Khan’s home.
The PTI was given a 24-hour deadline to turn over “terrorists” who targeted Army sites following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan by the Punjab interim government earlier in the day.
In remarks during a news conference, Punjab Caretaker Information Minister Aamir Mir said: “30 to 40 terrorists who attacked Army installations including Jinnah House are present in Zaman Park.”
According to the Punjab minister, geo-fencing allowed the authorities to determine that there were “terrorists” at Zaman Park.
“The recently released intelligence report is really concerning. According to ARY News, Mir said that the terrorists must be turned over within 24 hours or else the law would be applied.
PTI is beginning to operate like a non-state actor, according to Mir. He continued by saying that the PTI leader has been attacking the military for more than a year and he pleaded with the party to turn over the “terrorists”.
Khan said that police had surrounded his home and that he may be taken into custody at any moment, therefore this could be his last tweet.
“Probably my last tweet before my next arrest,” Imran Khan tweeted while addressing the country in a live video broadcast. My home is being encircled by police.According to several media reports, barricades were put up on multiple highways and a sizable detachment of Punjab Police were stationed on the roads leading to Zaman Park.
