General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, said before the nation’s National Assembly on Friday that terrorists were able to regroup thanks to discussions. As Pakistan deals with a new wave of terrorism, the top brass of the army informed the members of the national legislature on the security situation in the nation.
The COAS said that Pakistan’s “reckless policy with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)” and having a soft spot for the terrorist group were to blame for the latest wave of terrorism.
The COAS said that the comprehensive operation against terror groups is intended to eradicate the threat of terrorism from Pakistan in an effort to win support for the so-called “war on terror” strategy approved last week.
It should be highlighted that the effort has not received significant backing, and several government officials have questioned whether it will have much of an impact on the problem.
This is a comprehensive national strategy, not a new operation. At the moment, Pakistan has no no-go zones. Several martyrs gave their lives in sacrifice for this victory. They sacrificed their lives for the nation, Munir said, according to a GeoTV report.
He spoke out at a National Security Committee meeting of the lower house that was held behind closed doors.
Terrorists, according to him, have no choice but to abide by the laws of the state. He said that the terrorists came together again because the government was prepared to talk to them.
“Security forces are prepared for a lasting state of peace in the nation. Operations based on intelligence are carried out every day in this respect. Pakistan has an abundance of both resources and labor, according to Munir.
The army would “completely back Pakistan in its road of progress and prosperity,” he asked the members of the national parliament to decide.
Senior military personnel also gave members of the national parliament a thorough rundown of the present state of affairs.
According to GeoTV’s report, the members of the national parliament applauded and banged the desk in agreement with the army chief’s suggestions.
