A senior official stated that on Tuesday at the international airport in this city, CISF officers detained an Indian traveler traveling to Abudhabi for allegedly carrying Dirhams worth more than Rs 3 crore in an unauthorized way.
When the passenger’s hand luggage was placed through the X-ray scanner for security screening at Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at approximately 3 am, security authorities stopped him.
In all, 14,22,500 Dirhams, or roughly Rs 3 crore at the current exchange rate, were found in the man’s luggage as he boarded an Emirates aircraft for Dubai.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official claimed the passenger was turned over to the customs authorities because he was unable to present a proper paperwork for carrying such a large amount of foreign money.
