In accordance with the UP Gangsters Act, police in this city have seized a 17-bigha land worth Rs 3 crore that belongs to Firoz Qureshi, the son of former BSP lawmaker Yakoob Qureshi.
Yakoob Qureshi was the subject of a complaint under the UP Gangsters Act, according to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Anirudh Singh, and his possessions are now being seized on the direction of the district government.
A 17-bigha land owned by Qureshi’s son Firoz was confiscated on Tuesday in the Kharkhauda police station-administered Pipli Kherha hamlet. According to Singh, the land is worth Rs 3 crore.
A case was filed against Yakoob Qureshi and his family members last year for alleged illegal packaging of meat inside a meat factory in the Kharkhauda police station area of Meerut, owned by Yakoob Qureshi, he continued, adding that properties worth Rs 24 crore that belonged to Yakoob Qureshi have so far been attached.
Police had raided the meat business on March 31, 2022. 17 persons are being sued, including Yakoob Qureshi, his wife Sanjida Beghum, and their sons Firoz and Imran.
In November 2022, Yakoob Qureshi’s family members were charged with violating the Gangsters Act.
According to the authorities, Yakoob Qureshi’s two sons are presently free on bond.
