PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the war game ‘Bharat Shakti’ in Pokhran, Rajasthan, on March 12, the eve of the announcement of the 2024 general elections. The exercise would solely involve military platforms and systems that are indigenously built. The triservice chief of staff, Gen. Anil Chauhan, along with other senior officials, will be present during the war exercise.
It is anticipated that Prime Minister Modi will encourage the military leadership to create a revolution in military affairs centred on tactics tailored to the unique security risks facing Bharat and its geography in order to display his “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” philosophy.
It is recognised that the war game “Bharat Shakti” will evaluate the effectiveness of platforms and technologies that are network-centric and produced in India. Even though the Indian Army is fully indigenous, efforts are ongoing to also achieve indigenization in the technologically advanced Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, particularly in the areas of submarine building and aircraft engine manufacture.
Additionally, to make sure the enemy cannot compromise them in hostile environments, the exercise will assess the robustness and integrity of native communication systems and networks. Aside from this, the harmony between the three services—which frequently tend to function in isolation—will be the primary emphasis of the “Bharat Shakti” exercise. There will be a showcase of short-range missiles, Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers, indigenous drones, K-9 artillery guns, and Tejas fighter aircraft.
Following Prime Minister Modi’s insistent appeal for “Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” the three services have directed their attention to creating technology such as the Indian Army’s secure mobile telephony. All of the calls on the safe mobile are fully encrypted, and the three services have tested their resilience, even if the device is based on imported phone devices and a private Indian operator. Presently being utilised as a pilot project by the top brass of the three services, the phone has undergone hacker testing. PM Modi will engage with the top brass during the war scenario to further increase the lethality of the Indian armed forces, utilising all of the country’s network-centric indigenous systems.
