On a three-day visit to Maharashtra, President Droupadi Murmu landed in Nagpur on Tuesday night. While there, she would speak at the Gondwana University commencement in Gadchiroli and take part in other activities.
Murmu is making his first trip to Maharashtra since taking office as chief constitutional officer in July of last year.
The President was greeted at the city airport upon her arrival by the governor of Maharashtra, Ramesh Bais, the chief minister, Eknath Shinde, the deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, and Union minister, Nitin Gadkari.
The President will speak at the Gondwana University’s 10th convocation on Wednesday in Gadchiroli and launch the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sanskritik Kendra (culture center) at Koradi in Nagpur the following day, according to a release from the district information office.
She will speak with members of PVTGs (particularly vulnerable tribal groups) on Thursday at the Raj Bhavan in Nagpur, according to the statement.
The Maharashtra government will organize a civic celebration at the Raj Bhavan in her honor, which she will attend before departing for Mumbai.
