On the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” will go to India for four days starting May 31, according to sources in the Foreign Ministry.
After been elected to the highest position for the third time in December of last year, this will be Prachanda’s first trip abroad.
What was said by the foreign ministry?
According to local sources at the foreign ministry, the visit will occur from May 31 to June 3 and the ministry will officially announce it on Saturday.
“The official announcement of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s travel to India on Saturday will be made by the foreign ministry. He will have important bilateral discussions during the May 31–June 3 visit, including with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the official, who is also an advisor to Foreign Minister N P Saud, said.
“The last step of the visit’s preparations has been reached. To address different matters linked to the visit, Foreign Minister Saud met with past Foreign Secretaries and Foreign Ministers last week, the source added.
While in New Delhi this week, Nepalese Ambassador Shankar Prasad Sharma spoke with S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, on Prime Minister Prachanda’s impending visit.
According to officials in the foreign ministry, the two leaders’ bilateral discussions in Delhi will largely focus on issues relating to energy cooperation, water resources, trade, commerce, transportation, and infrastructure.
