Rains have been lashing all parts of Maharashtra since last few days. Unseasonal rains have caused heavy losses to farmers in different parts of the state. Due to the rains, there has been a lot of damage in the Konkan region including Vidarbha, Marathwada, West Maharashtra and North Maharashtra. The forecast for the next five days has been issued by the Regional Meteorological Center Mumbai. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts for various districts of the state for the next five days.
According to the forecast issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of unseasonal rain in the districts of Marathwada and Vidarbha. Orange alert was given to all the districts of Vidarbha on 28 April. At present, orange alert has been given to Ahmednagar district of Marathwada along with Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Latur, Jalna, Beed. While yellow alert has been given to Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, Dharashiv, Nanded, Latur, Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar.
Orange alert has been given to four districts Akola, Washim, Yavatmal and Chandrapur on 29 February. Meanwhile, yellow alert has been sounded for all districts of Marathwada except Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, rest of the districts of North Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Orange alert has been sounded in Nagpur, Bhandara, Yavatmal, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts of Vidarbha on 30 April. There is a possibility of unseasonal rains in all the districts of Western Maharashtra including Marathwada, Vidarbha, North Maharashtra.
Yellow alert has also been issued for Vidarbha, Marathwada districts on May 1. Except Konkan, other districts are expected to receive unseasonal rains. On the other hand, on May 2, a yellow alert has been given to Vidarbha and Marathwada districts and there is a possibility of unseasonal rain.
