After the resignation of Sharad Pawar from the post of NCP chief, now the speculation about the new president of the party has intensified. The party is continuously holding meetings regarding who will be the next president of NCP, but on the other hand, after the resignation of Pawar, everything is not going well in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. MVA leaders are targeting each other. Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) leader Sanjay Raut and Congress leader Nana Patole have targeted each other.
In fact, when Pawar resigned, Sanjay Raut reacted by comparing NCP with Congress. Raut said that the way Mallikarjun Kharge is the president of the Congress, but only Sonia Gandhi is looking after the work of the party. Similarly, Pawar may be resigning but he will remain in the party. He has not resigned from politics.
Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole hit back at Raut’s statement and said, ‘We have said earlier also that Sanjay Raut is not the spokesperson of our party. Will you say that it will be decided by Sanjay Raut instead of Uddhav Thackeray? Kharge is a senior leader of our party who has vast experience in the organization. If Sanjay Raut is insulting such a person, then we will not tolerate it.’ Though Raut took a jibe at Patole’s statement, saying that he is a multi-layered leader, But he will directly talk to Rahul Gandhi about this.
When Maharashtra Congress Committee President Nana Patole was asked about the impact of Sharad Pawar’s resignation, he said, ‘There will be no effect. I do not think that NCP will make any such mistake for which they will have to pay a heavy price. This is the matter of his party. He will decide who will be president and who will not. This will not affect the Maha vikas Aghadi.’ When asked about the arrogance of the Congress in his book, Patole said, ‘Pawar saheb is a big leader and I am a small worker. I will not comment on his resignation today, will give when the time comes.’
Meanwhile, after the resignation of Sharad Pawar, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has postponed its upcoming Vajramuth rallies in Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur and Amravati. However, opposition leaders said that the reason for postponing the rally was rising temperature and extreme heat. NCP leader Praful Patel said, ‘When the MVA leaders met on May 1st, so there was a discussion about the rising temperature in the state and its possible impact on those attending the rallies as people come from remote areas. Therefore it was discussed that the upcoming Vajramooth rallies should be postponed.’
At the same time, Sharad Pawar’s resignation is also being cited as the reason behind postponing the rallies. The MVA had planned a total of seven Vajramooth rallies across the state. Out of which the first three rallies were organized in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nagpur and Mumbai. The next rallies were to be held in Pune (May 14), Kolhapur (May 28), Nashik (June 3) and Amravati (June 11).
Senior NCP leader and state president Jayant Patil has expressed his displeasure over the reports that he was not invited to a meeting of the NCP held on Wednesday. Patil said that I do not know whether there was any meeting today. Patil said that everyone wants Pawar to withdraw his resignation. On the other hand, regarding the Mumbai meeting, later Supriya Sule clarified that no such meeting has been called.
Sharad Pawar is the only leader who can bring the regional satraps closer to the Congress under one umbrella. His Chanakyanithi had also defeated BJP in Maharashtra. The opposition is in dire need of Sharad Pawar. This is the reason why from Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan have also held talks with NCP leaders. According to sources, all efforts are being made to persuade Sharad Pawar and the leaders feel that Sharad Pawar may agree to them. Now it has to be seen what decision Pawar takes in the coming days.
