The second list of candidates for the forthcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections was released by the Congress on Thursday.
The list contains 88 contenders’ names. Following the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Wednesday in the nation’s capital, the list was made public.
Three candidates for the state’s Datia, Pichhore, and Gotegaon seats have been replaced by the Congress party.
In place of Awadhesh Nayak, the grand old party has nominated Rajendra Bharti for the Datia seat in Madhya Pradesh.
Bharti served as an MLA for the Datia seat in the past.
The party has fielded Narmada Prasad Prajapati to run for the Scheduled Caste community’s restricted Gotegaon seat in place of Shekhar Chowdhary, whose name was previously revealed on the initial list.
In addition, the grand old party nominated Arvind Singh Lodhi to run in the Pichhore seat in place of Shailendra Singh.
The party has already released the names of 144 candidates, including Kamal Nath from Chhindwara, the state unit president and a former chief minister.
Several well-known individuals were on the list, including former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath, former minister of higher education of Madhya Pradesh Jitu Patwari, Jaivardhan Singh, legislator Vijayalakshmi Sadho, and legislator Lakshman Singh.
One of the five states holding elections this year is Madhya Pradesh.
Election day in the state is slated for November 17, and the results will be tallied on December 3.
From 230 Assembly seats, voters will choose their representatives.
In March 2021, 22 Congress MLAs in office resigned and joined the BJP, leading to the downfall of the Kamal Nath administration. Shivraj Singh Chouhan became the next chief minister when the BJP went on to become the state’s administration.
