Former Maharashtra MLA Shishir Shinde resigned from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena on Saturday. In a letter to party president Thackeray, he said that despite being appointed as the deputy leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT) a year ago, he was not given any responsibility.
He said that it had become impossible to meet Uddhav Thackeray in the last six months. They don’t get to do whatever they want in the Thackeray group. Shishir Shinde has written in the letter that for four years he was not given any responsibility, then he was given an ornamental post, so four years of his life were wasted. Shishir Shinde is identified as a flamboyant Shiv Sena worker. Shinde rose to fame when he, along with some other party workers, dug up the pitch at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to prevent an India-Pakistan match from taking place in 1991.
After Raj Thackeray left Shiv Sena, Shishir Shinde supported him and left Shiv Sena. Then on 19 June 2018, Shishir Shinde again joined Shiv Sena. But he had to wait for four years for political rehabilitation in the party. Shishir Shinde became the deputy leader of the Shiv Sena after Eknath Shinde’s rebellion. Shishir Shinde was elected MLA in 2009 from Bhandup Assembly Constituency. After this, he had to face defeat in the elections held in 2014.
