A Shiv Sena leader led by Eknath Shinde was stabbed to death by about six people in Maharashtra’s Thane district. A police officer gave this information on Saturday. However, no arrest has been made in this case so far.
Shabbir Sheikh (45) was attacked with a sharp weapon in Ulhasnagar’s Jai Janata Colony on Friday night, senior inspector of Hill Line police station Ranjit Dere said. Local residents rushed him to a hospital which in turn referred Shaikh to another hospital in Kalyan as his condition was critical. He died before he could be admitted to the second hospital, the police said. The official said Shaikh was appointed as the Ulhasnagar township president of the Shiv Sena four months ago.
Police suspect that Sheikh, has been targeted for money. Investigators have managed to obtain CCTV footage of the incident. A case has been registered under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and have identified the suspects from the CCTV. Efforts are on to nab them. police are on the lookout for the suspects, who have been identified, the official said.
