A building on Paris’ Left Bank was shaken by a massive explosion on Wednesday, inflicting at least 37 injuries. In the French capital, a design school and the offices of the Catholic education system were located in the same building, according to a BBC story.
The report stated that there was a significant gas smell before to the incident and cited witnesses to support its allegation. Although the cause of the explosion was not immediately clear, Edouard Civel, the deputy mayor of the area, said it was a “gas explosion” on the microblogging website.
According to the police, up to 270 firemen and nearly 70 emergency vehicles were sent in to put out the fires. The structure was first completely consumed by fire, but it was eventually brought under control, according to Paris police chief Laurent Nunez, who posted about the incident on social media.
Notably, the enormous explosion was recorded just as the national capital’s bars and eateries were hosting their annual music festival to mark the summer solstice.
