The 24-year-old cabin crew member was reportedly molested by a 62-year-old inebriated Sweden national on an Indigo Airlines trip from Bangkok to Mumbai. During the 6E-1052 Indigo Flight, the passenger, Klas Erik Harald Jonas Westberg, allegedly attacked a fellow traveller and caused a disturbance.
When serving meals, Westberg misbehaved with the air hostess.
The flight attendant apparently told the customer that there was no food on board, and he then reportedly became disruptive. The accused consented to order a chicken entrée, and when the air hostess came over to pay with the POS system under the guise of swiping a card, he improperly grabbed her hand.
The lady informed the Mumbai Police that when the air hostess objected, Westberg got up from the seat and sexually assaulted the Indigo personnel in front of other passengers.
The individual was then accused of abusing the crew and other passengers, the air hostess said.
On Thursday, the accused was detained upon arrival at the Mumbai Airport. In front of the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court, he was presented, and bail was granted.
This was the sixth incidence of molestation on board reported between 2017 and 2023 and the eighth rowdy flyer arrest in India in the previous three months.
On a Sunday IndiGo aircraft from Guwahati to Delhi, an inebriated guy defecated near the bathroom and threw up in the aisle. Bhaskar Dev Konwar, who lists himself as a “senior attorney practising at the Gauhati High Court” in his profile, first brought attention to the incident on Twitter. He also attracted criticism for praising the frightening episode as an illustration of “female strength.”
The staff member can be seen wearing a face mask and using a disinfectant spray to sanitise the aisle that has been coated with vomit and paper towels. Also, the picture depicts other passengers sitting quietly and gazing at her while she does the uncomfortable duty.
On March 22, two passengers aboard an Indigo aircraft from Dubai to Mumbai, John George D’Souza and Dattatreya Anand Bapardekar, began drinking after takeoff. The flight crew advised them of the prohibition on alcohol consumption when they discovered this. Nonetheless, both of the accused became enraged, got up from their seats, and began staggering around the plane intoxicated.
According to DCP Dixit Gedam of the Mumbai Police, “Two Indigo flyers have been booked under section 336 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 21, 22, and 25 of Aircraft rules for being intoxicated and misbehaving with the crew. Both were arrested formally but were granted bail from the police station itself as the sections were bailable.
A intoxicated guy peed on an elderly lady passenger on an Air India aircraft from New York to Delhi on November 26, 2022. The culprit, Shankar Mishra, was imprisoned by the authorities after a FIR was filed in the case.
