An official said here on Friday that Mumbai police have opened an investigation into the sexual harassment charge made by an actor for Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah against producer Asit Kumarr Modi and two crew members.
After testimonies from individuals mentioned in the complaint are recorded, a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed, the police officer said.
The actor had already sent an email to the Powai police in Mumbai complaining about the producer and two staff members. The actor has allegedly accused them of sexual harassment in a written complaint that they have just received, the official said.
The National Commission for Women (NCW), which the actor reportedly addressed in search of redress, is the source of the formal complaint that police received on May 8 from them. According to the actress, the producer repeatedly “sexually harassed” her over a period of years, according to PTI.
The 2008 premiere of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah made it one of the longest-running sitcoms in Indian television history. Additionally, it stars well-known performers Mandar Chandwadkar, Munmun Dutta, and Dilip Joshi.
