An automobile accident in Batesville, Texas, in the United States claimed the lives of at least seven persons, including four migrants and a possible smuggler, according to officials.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers verified on Wednesday that the deceased individuals were from Honduras, according to a report by the San Antonio-based media station KENS 5.
According to the DPS, a motorist from Honda was trying to elude the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office by driving past an 18-wheeler in a no-passing zone. The driver of the Chevy SUV and its Georgian passenger were killed in the collision. Xinhua news agency covered this story.
Five people in the Honda, including the alleged smuggler, were reportedly killed in the collision, according to the authorities. An inquiry is now under progress.
