Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, said on Sunday that the BJP will be politically ended in the coming days “much as the Congress” because it was allegedly employing government agencies against opposition parties.
Yadav pushed for the caste census as well, claiming that it will play a significant role in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“The BJP is misusing government agencies in the same way that the Congress did in the past. Congress has concluded. The BJP will have a similar end. He said at a news conference here that they are just sending agencies after the oppositional parties.
Asked if the “misuse” of the federal agencies would rise as the 2024 Lok Sabha election near, Yadav said, “That could be the case but it won’t assist the saffron party since preparations for the Lok Sabha elections will commence in the next few months,”.
Speaking of the political resolution adopted during the two-day national executive meeting held here starting on Saturday, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh declared that the party would stop at nothing to ensure that the BJP is defeated in both UP and the nation at the general election the following year.
“Uttar Pradesh is the only state which can halt the BJP since it has the biggest number of seats. In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP will lose to us. The Samajwadi Party is revered across the whole nation. He said that the saffron party is representing large business entities. “The BJP has given numerous falsehoods, whether it rates of fuel, petrol, or LPG or price hike,” he remarked.
Shivpal Singh Yadav, a prominent member of the Samajwadi Party, said on Saturday that the group has set a goal of winning at least 50 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 elections.
When asked about the prospective opposition front’s intentions before the general elections, Yadav said that they wouldn’t be made public.
“The BJP must be defeated. An opposition front is now being formed via initiatives. He said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar were all making independent efforts.
Yadav said, “The Congress is a national party, therefore it has to define its role,” in response to the question of whether the Congress would be excluded from such a suggested opposition front. Yadav questioned if the BJP took the action against Rahul Gandhi by the Delhi Police in order to aid the Congress while speaking about it.
“Nobody is aware of the BJP’s intended audience. They could act against someone, but they might have another person in mind,” he added.
In response to a notice served on Rahul Gandhi for saying at the Bharat Jodo Yatra that “women are still being sexually abused,” the Delhi Police visited his home on Sunday.
According to Yadav, a caste census would be beneficial for the country’s political parties in terms of reaching out to other castes.
The caste census is the main concern at the moment. Only when you perform a caste census are you allowed to bring everyone. A caste census is necessary for social fairness to be achievable. The BJP’s catchphrase in 2014 was Acche Din. The company’s catchphrase for 2019 was Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas. Hence, they must carry it out. From the North to the South, all political parties support the caste census. The BJP, though, is attempting to avoid it, he added.
He said that the Congress “backtracked” on its vow to undertake a caste census during the UPA-2 administration.
“The saffron party is likewise reluctant to hold it, much like the Congress. Many regional party leaders met with then-UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and then-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the UPA’s tenure. They will look into it, the then-Home Minister P. Chidambaram promised them. But nothing changed,” he continued.
Yadav said in the affirmative when asked whether the SP will run in elections outside of Uttar Pradesh.
“We would run for office anywhere we had an organisation,” he said.
