On Sunday, the Centre gave its approval for the transfer of Rs 200 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund as advance aid to Himachal Pradesh in order to assist the state, which has been severely impacted by the rain, in providing relief for those in need.
Earlier this month, the Center authorized the advance payment of Rs 360.80 crore from the central portion of the State Disaster Response Fund in two installments on July 10 and 17.
According to the spokesman, the Central government also cleared Rs 189.27 crore of the state’s outstanding National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) debt on August 7. According to a spokeswoman, the home ministry has authorized the disbursement of Rs 200 crore to the government of Himachal Pradesh as an advance from the National Disaster Response Fund to assist them in providing assistance for impacted citizens during the present monsoon season.
The federal government continuously monitors the situation in Himachal Pradesh and offers the state administration the logistical and financial support it needs to effectively handle the issue.For rescue and relief efforts, Himachal Pradesh received the assistance of twenty teams from the National Disaster Response Force, nine columns from the Indian Army, and three helicopters from the Indian Air Force.
The spokesman stated that the central government has also sent out inter-ministerial central teams without first waiting for a memorandum from the state government to evaluate the situation and the relief efforts being made by the state government. From July 19 to July 21, the central teams traveled to the state’s afflicted regions.
Since the state’s monsoon season began, at least 330 people have died in Himachal Pradesh as a result of rain, floods, landslides, and lightning, according to statistics from the home ministry.This monsoon, all 12 of Himachal Pradesh’s districts were affected by rain, floods, landslides, and cloudbursts. According to the statistics, the state was also affected by 25 landslides and one cloudburst in the previous week.
