n an effort to force Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the violence in Manipur in Parliament, the grand coalition of 26 opposition parties in India is prepared to lodge a notice for a no-confidence resolution against the BJP administration in the Lok Sabha today, top leaders said.
According to rumors, the group must provide the notification by 10 am today in order for the speaker of the House to read it.
Additionally, the Congress has issued a whip in the Lok Sabha directing its members to report to its office by 10.30 a.m. “to discuss some important issues.”
Totally about the choice: The Position of the Rivals
The decision about the motion was made on Tuesday morning at a meeting in Parliament that was attended by INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) MPs, according to the leaders of the Opposition front.
According to one of the alliance leaders, it was determined at the meeting that this would be a successful method to persuade the government to start a conversation about the problem.
“We spoke about the PM having to speak if we move a notice of no-confidence motion with 50 MP signatures. If he continues to remain silent, it will be obvious that he is attempting to flee. It is a question of perspective. We are now working on it, and we’ll make sure to submit it by tomorrow morning at 10 am, according to a senior alliance leader.
“The INDIA parties have a comprehensive parliamentary plan in place. Every day, the tactics used to carry out that approach change. The Lok Sabha’s Rule 198 outlines the steps for introducing a motion of no confidence. The tale is still developing, thus “Picture abhi baki hai” remarked Derek O’Brien, the leader of Trinamool in the Rajya Sabha.
Manish Tewari, a senior spokesman for the Congress, said that the opposition had all options open to it under the parliamentary system and tradition when asked if the opposition will introduce a resolution to impeach the government over the Manipur issue.
The sensitivity and depravity that Manipur has sadly experienced in the previous 78 to 80 days are the reasons why we are determined that the Prime Minister must address both Houses of Parliament on the subject of Manipur, as we have pointed out during the last three or four days.
Tewari said, “In light of the foregoing, we remain steadfast in our demand and as I pointed out, in a democracy all instruments which are available under the Parliamentary rules always remain open.”
The no-confidence motion path may be the best method to persuade the Prime Minister to talk, according to Congressman Karti Chidambaram.
This would be a good move, he continued, “if we are going to use any method to force the Prime Minister, who has been disrespecting Parliament, who doesn’t come to the House, who doesn’t answer questions in the House.”
The INDIA bloc’s goal, according to his party colleague Gaurav Gogoi, was to force the Prime Minister to make a speech.
“The Opposition’s only demand is that Prime Minister Modi address Parliament. Unfortunately, the PM is stealing the country’s focus. In the past, he advised looking at West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Chattisgarh; now, he advised looking at the East India Company and the Indian Mujahideen. In essence, the Prime Minister is having trouble sleeping since the INDIA coalition was formed. He is now frantically attempting to distract attention in order to cover up the shortcomings of his administration in Manipur.
When questioned about the notice, Gogoi said, “Parliament is the temple of Indian democracy, and we want the Prime Minister to appear. That is our one and only purpose of the parties in the INDIA coalition.
reply from the BJP
The opposition should keep in mind their unsuccessful effort in 2018 while making decisions, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said in response to questions on the opposition parties’ choice.
“I am not aware of their move, but if they are doing so they should know that last time they brought a no-confidence motion, BJP came back to power with a stronger majority of over 300 seats, and the same will happen again and we will get more than 350 seats,” Joshi added.
On July 20, 2018, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) successfully defeated the first no-confidence vote against the Modi administration in the Lok Sabha with 325 MPs voting against it and only 126 supporting it.
