An officer from Mumbai Police claimed on Friday that a FIR had been filed against unknown people for utilizing cricket star Sachin Tendulkar’s name, image, and voice for the advertising of pharmaceutical items without authorization.
On Thursday, he added, one of Tendulkar’s assistants reported the incident to the West Region Cyber Police Station.
The complaint said that while browsing the internet, he came across adverts for a pharmaceutical firm that claimed the master batter supported their range of goods.
Additionally, he discovered the website sachinhealth.in, which used Tendulkar’s image to advertise these goods.
Tendulkar directed his assistant to file a lawsuit since the corporation had never obtained his consent to use his name and images and it was harming his reputation.
The Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), and 500 (defamation) as well as the Information Technology Act were the subject of a First Information Report filed against unnamed individuals, the source said, adding that further investigation was ongoing.
