Union Minister Nitin Gadkari security gets increased after threatening calls
Security was heightened at Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s Nagpur home and office after a man gave three times threatening calls to harm the senior BJP leader if ₹ 10 crore was not given to him, a police official said.
The man giving calls has been recognised as one Jayesh Pujari, alias Jayesh Kantha, the same person whose name had been used to make similar calls to the minister’s office in January, he said.
Rahul Madane, deputy commissioner of police, said three calls, two in the morning and one around 12 in the afternoon, were made to Mr Gadkari’s public relations office, opposite Orange City Hospital in Nagpur.
The person asked for ₹ 10 crore and threatened to harm the minister, who holds the charge of road transport and highways, if the money was not paid, he said.
The DCP further said that after being warned by Mr Gadkari’s staff, the city police have started an investigation. Security has been increased at the minister’s home and office.
