Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, said on Monday that police must make use of contemporary technologies to safeguard the security and safety of old residents, women, and children. He was speaking to officers at the half-yearly crime conference held at the Colaba headquarters of the Maharashtra police in south Mumbai.
He said that the state’s police department had done well during the COVID-19 outbreak and that his administration would give it all of its support to guarantee that it remained the best in the nation.
“The administration would provide all necessary assistance in discussing and coming up with solutions to increase the competence and sensitivity of the police force. The police force plays a significant role in ensuring that the choices made by the government are felt by every member of society, he added.
In order to combat crime, cybercrime, drug trafficking, and intercommunal conflict, he emphasized the need of excellent cooperation between the police, medical services, and fire brigade.
According to him, the force must eradicate organized crime, stop terrorist attacks, beef up security on coastal highways, take steps to avoid accidents, and uphold law and order in society at all levels, from the state down to the taluka. According to Shinde, improving contact with the public can assist reduce crime by reducing fear among the populace and raising respect for the police.
Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister and home portfolio holder, emphasized the need for preventative measures in the fight against the drug epidemic and said the state government was building a robust platform to address the problems posed by cyberspace (such as loan fraud and sexual exploitation) in new investigations. The police will get help for the regulation and prosecution of cybercrime from this virtual ecosystem, which will encompass all social media-related companies.
At the occasion were Director General of Police Rajnish Seth, State Chief Secretary Manoj Sounik, and Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Sujata Sounik. The Khandala Training Center was named the finest regional training facility at the event, while the Shivaji Nagar Police Station in Kolhapur was named the best police station for 2021, according to an official.
