Union Minister Anurag Thakur has given a statement amidst the protest of the wrestlers and the announcement of the return of the medal. Anurag Thakur also responded to the issue of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh not being arrested despite the sexual harassment case. Anurag Thakur, who reached Mumbai, has said that as soon as the police files its charge sheet, it will be decided on the same day what will happen next. He also said that appropriate action will be taken on the basis of the charge sheet of the police.
Anurag Thakur said that the government is handling the issue of wrestlers very sensitively. He said that wrestlers and players are very important for us. We took steps on almost all the demands that were raised from the players. They demanded to form a committee, we did that, they said that the wrestling association should not work, we did that too.
On the issue of no action being taken against Brij Bhushan Singh yet, Anurag Thakur said, ‘Delhi Police is investigating in this matter. As soon as they file charge sheet, action will be taken on the basis of that.’ He said that for us both sports and players are important and in the eyes of the law all are one.
Hitting back at the opposition leaders, Anurag Thakur said that these people are unnecessarily doing politics. He also attacked Rahul Gandhi and said that he should desist from lying in Parliament and crying in London.
