Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has ruled out the possibility of his daughter and MP Supriya Sule taking over the reins of the party. Talking to the media in Pandharpur, Pawar clarified that Supriya Sule is not keen to take over as party president as she wants to focus on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for which only one year is left.
Put an end to speculation
There was constant speculation that Supriya Sule might take over the reins of the NCP after Sharad Pawar’s resignation. However, Sule did not want to accept any responsibility for the time being, other than focusing on the voters in her constituency. Now Pawar For the first time, has put an end to such speculations. Also, when Pawar was asked about Supriya Sule’s performance in Parliament, he praised his daughter for being elected as an outstanding parliamentarian seven times in a row. Supriya has been honored with this honor for the eighth time.
Supriya Sule is the third time MP from Baramati constituency of Maharashtra. For the last three elections, her victory margin is continuously increasing and she has been able to increase the number of votes continuously. But looking at the percentage, there was a fluctuation in the vote share.
Lok Sabha MP for three consecutive terms
In 2009, Sule got 66 percent votes by getting 4 lakh 87 thousand votes. While in 2014, she was able to get 48 percent votes with 5 lakh 21 thousand votes. In the 2019 elections, Sule secured 52 per cent votes with his 6 lakh votes. BJP is focusing more on Baramati to give a tough challenge to Supriya Sule.
BJP’s eye on Baramati
According to BJP sources, the party is trying to gain a foothold in the Pawar family stronghold in the same way it did in Amethi by defeating Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 elections. This time Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been given a special task to focus on the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency as a part of the BJP’s ambitious 45 plus plan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.
