A guy who performed a ramp walk in a male-only local train cabin caught everyone’s attention and received more than 73,000 likes and 1,800 comments on Instagram.
In the video, passengers can be seen staring in awe as Shivam Bhardwaj, also known by the Instagram name “theguyinaskirt,” is seen going across the compartment while wearing a black outfit.
“It was surprising to see how people reacted to my ramp walk on the local train while I was editing my reel. The 24-year-old told PTI that although some people stared at her with their jaws open, “there was also a guy who came up to me and asked if I am an artist and that made me glad because there are people who understand.
Shivam, a member of the LGBTQ community, identifies as a homosexual guy and is in favour of gender ambiguity.
According to the young man from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, skirts and makeup should not be gender-specific.
Guys may also wear skirts. Many in the area find it quite startling and don’t want to accept that a boy is wearing a skirt since it hasn’t been seen in Indian culture. But I do think that things are changing,” Shivam stated.
He argued that just as men can wear skirts without losing their masculinity, they can also do so. “If you’re a guy, you’ll be a man even if you wear a skirt,” he said.
Shivam always knew he wanted to work in the fashion industry, but getting his parents’ support was difficult.
When Shivam was 19 years old, his father urged him to leave because he was producing fashion material instead of what his father desired, which was for his son to become a chartered accountant.
He then began working for a BPO, and as he began to make money, he returned to making fashion material, which was his passion.
Shivam’s obsession with skirts began when he purchased one for a buddy back in his hometown of Meerut but was enticed to wear it himself after realising he looked fantastic in it.
He uploaded a video while wearing a skirt against the advice of his loved ones to not do so. The phrase “theguyinaskirt” was coined when the video went viral.
It surprised him much because “at least 90% of the responses on my article are good.”
Shivam’s confidence was praised on Instagram by others. You better walk that runway, said one user. “My mouth dropped, like Majestic is the word,” added another.
