Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut, days after the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) announcement to demonetise the Rs 2,000 note, on Monday claimed that when a decision is taken by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then the Prime Minister takes some ‘arbitrary’ decisions to reduce negative feelings.
Raut has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is comes up with some arbitrary decisions to water down the negative sentiments. In fact, on May 19, the RBI had announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes from circulation. The public has been given time till September 30 to deposit or exchange these notes in bank accounts.
When asked about the RBI decision, Sanjay Raut claimed in a conversation with reporters that when a decision goes against BJP or Modi, they take some arbitrary decisions to reduce negative sentiments. He said that Karnataka is an important southern state, where people of different religions celebrate festivals.
The state has the largest number of temples and people do not hide their religious leanings. Despite this, the people of Karnataka have rejected Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the BJP. Why is it so difficult for the BJP to accept this, he asked. Raut said that BJP should learn to accept defeat. He claimed that more such occasions (of defeat) would come.
