A gunfight on a highway in West Bengal’s Malda district resulted in the death of a lady.
The incident happened on Tuesday night along National Highway-12 near Shimuldab.
The victim, Ainur Bibi (28), was named.
Her husband Masu Seikh claims that the catastrophe occurred when he was riding his bike home with his wife and their little kid, who is seven years old, riding as his passengers.
“Suddenly, two motorcycle-riding miscreants opened fire from close range at my wife as we approached the NH-12 in the Shimuldab region. They then fled the scene. My wife was transported to a nearby hospital with the aid of the townspeople, who raced to assist. But at that point, she had passed away,” Seikh told reporters on Wednesday.
“I don’t know what led to the assassination. The murderers’ faces were hidden by the tinted glass of the helmets they were wearing, so I am unable to identify them. No one is at war with us.
The motorbike that the dead lady and her husband and kid were riding is now in the control of the police, according to the authorities.
The police have launched an inquiry to find the murderers.
Gopal Chandra Saha, a local MLA from the Malda (SC) district, and Khagen Murmu, a BJP member from the Madla (North) district, met the husband.
Both have called for an immediate investigation to find the murderers.
