The Netherlands’ next match in the IC Cricket World Cup 2023 takes place against Afghanistan on Friday.
After a 12-year hiatus, the Dutch team qualified for the main competition after a magical run through the qualifying rounds. Even though they have only won twice in their first six games, they defeated South Africa to demonstrate that they are here to stay and are not only here to make numbers.
When they crushed South Africa by 38 runs in the globe Cup, they managed to surprise the whole globe. Their most recent triumph came in a match against Bangladesh in Kolkata, when the Dutch won by an impressive 87 runs.
With four wickets taken to lead the Netherlands to a commanding victory, Paul van Meekeren had the finest performance of the match.
With Afghanistan up next, the Dutch now have a chance to make this win a run of victories.
On November 4, the two underdog teams will square off in Lucknow’s Ekana Sports City Stadium. Afghanistan’s campaign began with a defeat to Bangladesh, but the group has bounced back quite well, winning three of their first six games.
They triumphed against formidable cricket teams, such as Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and England. They might have a far better chance of qualifying for the tournament’s knockout round with another victory. It will undoubtedly not be simple for the Asian side, however.
