In response to the recent unrest by the Maratha community, the Maharashtra Revenue Department will begin distributing Kunbi certificates to anyone who meet the eligibility requirements on October 31. Manoj Jarange Patil, a Maratha reservation campaigner, spoke with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde over the phone. CM Shinde informed Jarange Patil during the call that the Maratha community will get Kunbi certificates, and that a firm decision on this matter would be made at today’s cabinet meeting. He said that the government has filed a curative petition before the Supreme Court in order to lawfully address the Maratha reservation issue.
