Rapper Badshah was in further trouble after being called to the Mumbai Police Cyber Cell’s headquarters to be questioned about a case involving the online betting software “Fair Play.” The rapper’s identity surfaced in an online betting app marketing case, putting him under police investigation. Allegedly, the rapper advertised the FairPlay betting app, a division of the Mahadev app.
About 40 Bollywood celebrities, including Sanjay Dutt, have reportedly been called in relation to the investigation, according to Maharashtra Police. Following a complaint from Viacom 18, the police launched an inquiry against the FairPlay app. The online betting app was accused of erecting hoardings around Mumbai to broadcast a live stream of the Tata IPL 2023 without first obtaining authorization from Viacom 18.
This is in response to the Mahadev Book App becoming the subject of a money laundering investigation. During the inquiry, the names of a number of well-known Bollywood actors have surfaced, including Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Kapil Sharma, and Shraddha Kapoor.
Ranbir Kapoor was called by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) earlier this month in relation to a money laundering investigation using the Mahadev betting app. ED became aware of Ranbir when he showed up at the Rs 200-crore wedding in the United Arab Emirates that is at the core of the Mahadev app investigation.
In addition to Ranbir Kapoor, actor-comedian Kapil Sharma and actress Hina Khan were also called by ED officers in the same case. The ED also called for Bollywood stars Huma Qureshi and Shraddha Kapoor. The ED reportedly asked them about the money they were paid to promote the Mahadev betting app.
