According to the Indian Army, Agniveer Ajay Kumar made the ultimate sacrifice when he died while performing his job, and his family has already received Rs 98.39 lakhs. Ex-gratia and additional benefits of roughly 67 lakhs will be given upon final account settlement as soon as the necessary police verification is completed.
The Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army published a “clarification on emoluments to Agniveer Ajay Kumar” on Wednesday. The ADGPI stated that some social media posts suggested that the AG’s next of kin had not received any compensation.
The Indian Army expresses its gratitude for Agniveer Ajay Kumar’s selfless sacrifice. Full military honours were accorded to the final ceremonies. The family of Agniveer Ajay has already received Rs 98.39 lakhs of the total compensation owed, according to a post on X from ADGPI.
“Ex-Gratia and other benefits, as applicable under the Agniveer Scheme’s rules, totaling roughly 67 lakhs, will be paid on final account settlement as soon as the police verify the payment is due. The approximate total cost will be Rs 1.65 crore. It is underlined once more that emoluments owed to the next of kin of slain soldiers, particularly Agniveers, be paid promptly.
Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition and a prominent member of the Congress, accused Defence Minister Rajnath Singh of “lying” on the Lok Sabha floor over the Agniveer plan earlier in the day and sought an apology.
Rahul Gandhi said that the minister had lied in Parliament on the payment of compensation to the relatives of deceased Agniveers in a video that was uploaded on X.
The significance of truth in all faiths. Rajnath Singh made up stories in front of Lord Shiva’s picture regarding the nation’s military, Agniveers, and recompense. The Leader of the Opposition stated in a video message, “I have stated in my speech that I listen to the Agniveer family, not to me or his (Rajnath Singh) remarks.
He revealed the footage of Agniveer Ajay Singh’s father, who died in Jammu and Kashmir, and asserted that, despite Singh’s assertions, his family had not been paid the amount that had been promised.
According to Ajay Singh’s father, Rajnath Singh claimed that families of fallen soldiers had received compensation of Rs. 1 crore, but his own family had not received any such aid. Rahul Gandhi is advocating in Parliament for the families of martyrs to receive all appropriate assistance. Recruitment of accomplices must end, and regular hiring must resume.
The leader of the Congress sought an apology from the Minister of Defence.
“The Defence Minister ought to apologise to the country’s youth, the military services, and the family of Ajay Singh Ji, who was killed. He said, “Daro mat, Darao mat.”
Rajnath Singh, a member of Parliament, had earlier, on June 1, objected to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments in the Lok Sabha regarding the Agniveer scheme. He said that the family of an Agniveer who gives his life in a war or to protect the nation’s borders receives financial support amounting to one crore rupees.
Rajnath Singh accused Rahul Gandhi of attempting to mislead the Lok Sabha by making false claims.
“Rahul Gandhi should refrain from attempting to mislead the House with false claims. The family of the Agniveer who gives his life in battle or to guard our borders has received financial support of one crore rupees, the Minister of Defence declared.
