One of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s most wanted terrorists, Faisal Nadeem, also known as Abu Qatal, was slain in Pakistan on Saturday night, according to India Today.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) charged Qatal, a close associate of 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed, and two other Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handlers living in Pakistan about the Rajouri assaults in January 2023.
The agency’s efforts to dismantle the terrorist network in Jammu and Kashmir included the charge sheet.
The complaint, which is lodged under the numbers RC-01 & 02/2023/NIA/JMU, concerned the January 1, 2023, terror attack on people in Dhangri, Rajouri, which was followed by an IED detonation the next day.
There had been seven fatalities, including two children, and numerous critical injuries.
Abu Qatal, Saifullah alias Sajid Jutt (also known by several names, including as Ali, Habibullah, and Nouman), and Mohd Qasim were the three LeT handlers who were charged.
Abu Qatal and Sajid Jutt were both citizens of Pakistan, but Qasim joined the LeT after moving to Pakistan in 2002.
According to investigations, the three had planned the recruitment and use of LeT terrorists from Pakistan to attack security forces and civilians, especially members of the minority community in Jammu and Kashmir. They had ordered the attacks to be carried out.
