In all of India, tomatoes will cost Rs 80 per kilogram. In a statement, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution said that the vegetable’s costs had fallen as a result of government action, which included selling the produce at a discounted rate of Rs 90 per kg at numerous places around the nation.
The ministry said, “It has been decided to sell tomatoes at Rs 80 per kg from today, July 16th, 2023,” after reassessing the situation at more than 500 sites throughout the nation.
The ministry said that tomato sales via NAFED and NCCF began today at various locations in Delhi, Noida, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Arrah.
Depending on the local market conditions, it will be extended to further cities starting on Monday, according to ministry sources.
According to the ministry’s statement from Saturday, nearly 18,000 kg of tomatoes were sold across the Delhi-NCR region as a result of its intensive market interventions in Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida.
