After failing to get into the bank branch’s safe, a thief left a note thanking the security measures and pleading with people not to look for him, according to police on Saturday.
They said that on Thursday, a masked intruder broke the lock on the front entrance of the Nennel Mandal offices and entered a branch of a government-run rural bank.
He looked into the cabins of the cashier and the clerks but found nothing of value. He was unable to unlock the lockers. Then, using a marker pen, he scribbled in Telugu on a newspaper, “I could not collect a single rupee…so don’t catch me. My paw prints won’t be visible. Good bank, the cops said.
They said that there were no security guards and that the bank operated out of a domestic building.
The bank staff reported the attempted robbery on Friday once they became aware of it, and on the basis of that report, a case was opened under the appropriate IPC provisions.
Police said that additional investigation was ongoing and that efforts were being made to find the burglar as well as to verify the CCTV video.
