The NCP’s decision to join the Eknath Shinde administration in Maharashtra drew criticism from the AAP on Tuesday, which cited it as evidence that the Centre was “misusing” investigation agencies to discredit opposition parties.
Sanjay Singh, the national spokesman for the AAP and a Rajya Sabha member, said, “This is the actual face of the BJP. Stop talking about ethics, honesty, and the battle against corruption.
To become deputy chief minister in the Shiv Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra, which has been in power for a year, senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar spearheaded a vertical split in the party two days ago, surprising his uncle Sharad Pawar, who formed the organization 24 years ago after leaving the Congress.
Eight additional NCP MLAs, including Chhagan Bhujbal and Hasan Mushrif, were sworn in as Shinde cabinet ministers in addition to Ajit Pawar.
“At a rally in Bhopal, the prime minister said that fighting corruption is Modi’s pledge. Three days later, his catchphrase was altered. At a news conference, Singh accused Modi ji of promising that every corrupt person would be appointed to the position of minister.
Days after the prime minister spoke about their alleged participation in frauds of nearly Rs 70,000 crore, Ajit Pawar was appointed deputy chief minister and other NCP MLAs were appointed to ministerial positions, he said.
The AAP MP said that “What happened in Maharashtra is the living example of how the CBI, ED, and other central probe agencies are being used as tools to break other parties and poach their MLA,” and he urged PM Modi to “stop talking about ethics, honesty, and fight against graft.”
According to Singh, Chhagan Bhujbal, who is reportedly connected to the Maharashtra Sadan scam, and NCP MLA Mushrif, both of whom the Enforcement Directorate is investigating, have been appointed ministers.
The AAP spokesman said that “BJP leader Kirit Somaya, who had been pushing for Mushrif’s arrest in relation to an alleged scam worth Rs 100 crore, is today hiding.”
He made references to reports that other politicians, including the chief minister of Assam and the head of the opposition in West Bengal, Shuvendu Adhikari and Himanta Biswa Sarma, had been accused of corruption before joining the BJP.
“Modi washing powder has become so well-liked from east to west and north to south because it will wash you clean of all sins. Modi cleaning powder can cover up all misdeeds, including theft, rape, murder, and corruption, Singh said.
