Army Chief General Manoj Pandey left for a two-day visit to Bangladesh on Monday. There will be talks with top military officials of the neighboring country primarily to further expand bilateral defense and security ties.
This is General Pandey’s second visit to Bangladesh as Army Chief. He had visited the country in July last year on his first foreign trip after taking charge of the top post. “During the visit, the army chief will meet senior military leadership of Bangladesh, where he will discuss ways to further enhance India-Bangladesh defense ties,” the army said.
On Tuesday, General Pandey will review the Passing Out Parade (POP) of Officer Cadets of the 84th ‘Long Course’ at the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) in Chattogram. During the parade, the Chief of Army Staff will present the ‘Bangladesh India Friendship Trophy’ instituted for the best foreign cadet from friendly countries passing out from BMA. This year’s first trophy is being presented to Officer Cadet Everton from Tanzania. Other engagements of the Chief of Army Staff include formal talks with the Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army and the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division.
