Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a review meeting on Monday at 1 pm regarding Cyclone Biparjoy. In this, preparedness to deal with the cyclone will be discussed. It has been told that the agencies and officials associated with NDRF will be involved in disaster and relief operations.
Significantly, Biparjoy has now become a severe cyclonic storm. It is expected to hit Saurashtra and Kutch region of Gujarat by June 15. An alert has also been issued regarding the impact of the cyclone in seven districts of Gujarat. Fishing has been banned by the authorities on the state’s southern and northern coasts. With this, sensing the danger, 1300 people have been shifted to safer places.
Apart from this, Section 144 has been imposed as a precautionary measure by the administration in the Kutch area of Gujarat due to Cyclone Biparjoy.
Cyclonic storm moving fast towards India-Pakistan
Biparjoy over the east-central Arabian Sea moved north-northeast wards with a speed of 9 kmph and became very squally with wind speed reaching 165 to 175 kmph gusting to 195 kmph during the past 6 hours. It has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and is moving at a speed of about 580 kmph. It is moving to the west-southwest of Mumbai, 480 km south-southwest of Porbandar, 530 km south-southwest of Dwarka, 610 km south-southwest of Naliya and 780 km south of Karachi.
