Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka, said that JP Nadda would preside over a “important meeting” that will be conducted today and discuss the 224 seats. He announced that the parliamentary board meeting will take place tomorrow.
Bommai previously said that the Parliamentary Board would finalise the list of candidates once the State Election Committee has picked three names for each seat. The BJP’s highest governing body is the Parliamentary Board. B S Yediyurappa, a prominent BJP figure and former chief minister of Karnataka, is a member of the Board.
The list will reportedly be made public on April 9.
“Opinions have been obtained at the district and constituency levels,” Bommai told reporters, “and the State Election Committee has debated and selected three names (per constituency). The Parliamentary Board in Delhi will consider and finalise the list.”
The second list of 42 candidates was presented by the House on Thursday. For the elections, 142 candidates have already been chosen. The first list of 100 applicants was already made public. The candidates were chosen at a meeting of the Central Election Committee on Wednesday, which was presided over by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
With the election date drawing near, ticket applicants are anticipating the BJP’s announcement of the candidate list.
The deadline for submitting nominees is April 20; election notices will be sent out on April 13.
