On the day of the state’s municipal election, a lady Congress worker’s body was discovered close to the Sampla Bus Stand on the Rohtak-Delhi highway, sparking a huge political uproar in Haryana.
According to the Congress, the deceased was Himani Narwal, a Youth Congress official in Rohtak, the home of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
“It is very sad and upsetting to learn of the savage murder of Himani Narwal, an enthusiastic Congress activist, in Rohtak. I offer my sympathies to the family members and pay my respects to the deceased soul. It is quite sad and frightening that a girl was murdered in this way and that her body was discovered in a suitcase. This alone is a disgrace to the state’s law and order situation,” Hooda wrote on X.
On Friday, the deceased’s body was discovered in a large blue suitcase next to the Sampla bus stop. The Sampla police station was then notified of the discovery.
She had mehendi on her hands and a scarf around her neck.
Who was Himani Narwal?
Himani Narwal was a Congress employee from Kathura village in Sonepat. An HT report claims that Narwal participated in several political gatherings, including ones with MP Deepender Hooda of Rohtak. She was well-known for sharing the stage with Haryanvi folk performers at social gatherings and Congress rallies.
She was listed as the vice president of the Indian Youth Congress on Narwal’s X account. “My younger sister @himani_narwal served as Rohtak Rural’s District Vice President while I was a member of the Youth Congress. Former Youth Congress head Srinivas BV stated on X that Himani did a great job fulfilling all of his responsibilities, whether it was the Bharat Jodo Yatra or any other organisational event.
Narwal has travelled with Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on the Bharat Jodo Yatra. During the Haryana assembly election campaign, Bharat Bhushan Batra, a Congress MLA, claimed to have been involved with Bhupinder Hooda and Deepinder Hooda.
