In the art director Nitin Desai suicide case, the Bombay High Court has flatly refused to give any kind of relief to the accused for the time being. The accused had filed a petition before the Bombay High Court to quash the FIR registered against them by the police in the case.
Before the court, the counsel for one of the accused in the case, Jitendra Kothari, said that Jitendra has only performed his duty. He was appointed IRP so he should not be arrested. At the same time, the lawyer of the second accused and Edelweiss CEO Rashesh Shah sought relief from the court saying that the company has given all the necessary documents to the police. NCLT had ordered insolvency proceedings. It is the responsibility of the company to follow the orders. At the same time, the public prosecutor in the case told the court that the accused should file an anticipatory bail petition and not such a petition.
After hearing the arguments of both the sides, the Bombay High Court has refused to give any relief to the accused for the time being. The court said that it will decide in the next hearing of the matter on August 18 whether any security should be given to the accused or not.
Bollywood’s famous art director Nitin Desai committed suicide on 2 August. His body was found hanging in his own studio in Raigad, adjacent to Mumbai. While investigating the case, the police had registered an FIR against a total of 5 people on charges of abetment to suicide.
