The Harbour Line services have been delayed due to a local train derailment on the Panvel-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) line. According to Central Railway officials, one coach wheel came off as the train approached the CSMT station at 11:43 a.m. in Mumbai.
The derailment did not result in any passenger injuries that were reported. Commuters heading towards CSMT have been impacted by service interruptions caused by the disturbance along the harbour line.
En route trains headed for CSMT would be pulled up to Masjid station as a backup plan. Until further notice, harbour line services will continue to run from and to Vadala station.
According to Central Railway, there have been no effects on Mainline services on X.
The officials are at the derailment site to oversee the cleanup and get the affected services back up and running.
The Central Railway division in Mumbai posted on X, saying, “Due to some unavoidable circumstances, local trains in the Harbour Line section are suspended between CSMT and Vadala Road. “Passengers may travel up and down directions on the Mainline between CSMT and the Kurla section.”
The irate commuters used social media to voice their complaints about the delays.
“On the first day of the week, @Central_Railway continues to provide the poorest service. A user said on X, “We’re 45 minutes late, and people are walking on the tracks in the harbor.”
Another user commented, “The longest I stood at one place in Mumbai was when the local stopped before Wadala station for over 20 minutes.”
