Now, MLA Satyajit Thambe has taken up this issue and submitted a written request to the Principal Secretary for a direct meeting.
Many times, people have to wait for a long time to meet the officials from the respective ministries in the government offices in Patali, the village. This lack of availability affects both the citizens and the officials, and it hampers the timely completion of work, resulting in a waste of time, money, and effort for the citizens. Satyajit Thambe believes that such frustrations and negative perceptions about the officials and the government will be eliminated through this initiative.
Citizens who reside in remote areas of the state often face difficulties in getting their work done at various government offices. Sometimes they have to travel to the taluka or district offices, and in some cases, they even need to visit the main ministry. However, they often find that the officials are not present at their designated positions. On the other hand, sometimes junior officers and employees are burdened with additional responsibilities due to sudden meetings, and they have to leave their offices. Even in the headquarters, junior officers and employees are required to attend meetings or video conferences with senior officials. Both sides need clarity and transparency to ensure the citizens’ and officials’ interests, and this should be reflected in the timely preparation of appointment letters. MLA Satyajit Thambe has addressed this issue in his letter to the Chief Secretary.
To avoid wasting citizens’ time, the solution proposed by MLA Thambe is to start from the ministers and ensure the presence of officials at the village panchayat level. It should be determined which officials need to be present at the office, which meetings they should attend, when video conferences should be conducted, and when field visits are required in their respective work areas. Thambe has requested the preparation of a timetable to ensure clarity in the officials’ schedules. If there is clarity regarding the officials’ availability, it will be beneficial for both the citizens and the officials. The officials will have precise information about which tasks need to be performed and when. The citizens will also have the assurance that the concerned officials will be available on specific days. Ultimately, this will result in smoother and faster functioning of various departments in the state, as expressed by Satyajit Thambe.
