Five members of the Edelweiss Group, including the company’s chairman Rashesh Shah, are accused of aiding the suicide of art director Nitin Desai by the Raigad police in Maharashtra on Friday.The other four individuals included in the FIR are Jitendra Kotri, Smith Shah, Keur Mehta, and Bansal, R.
Nitin Desai, the victim, said in the FIR copy that Edelweiss offered him a sizable loan while his studio was flourishing. According to authorities, who cited a complaint made by the accused’s wife, when the company failed after the Covid lockout, the accused reportedly pressured 57-year-old Desai for debt payback.
According to an officer, a complaint made by the deceased’s wife Neha Desai led to the filing of a FIR at the Khalapur police station under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 34 (common purpose).
On August 2, art director Nitin Desai’s body was discovered at his N D Studio in Karjat. “Shri Nitin Desai’s corpse was discovered hanging at ND Studios this morning. We are looking into every possibility, according to Raigad SP Somnath Gharge.
In his audio recording, Desai used the names of the five individuals listed in the FIR and said that they were attempting to take over his ideal studio.

In the meanwhile, Edelweiss said in a statement that neither the interest rate nor any undue pressure was placed on Nitin Desai in an attempt to reclaim the loan amount.
