The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are in Dubai for special discussions on general elections, Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country, and the next government. These discussions will likely result in significant political decisions.
While Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif arrived in the UAE a day earlier, former president Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari arrived in Dubai on a special jet on Sunday.
On Saturday afternoon, Nawaz Sharif landed in Dubai from London, while his daughter Maryam, the PML-N senior vice president and chief organizer, also came from Lahore at the same time with her son Junaid Safdar and other family members.
In the Dubai meeting, the top brass of the PML-N-led coalition government addressed the economy’s current problems, the forthcoming general elections, Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan, and the power-sharing arrangement.
According to insiders, Nawaz conducted a number of significant meetings in Dubai where the road map for his homecoming and Pakistan’s economic and political destiny were discussed in depth.
According to a PML-N source, the former prime minister would soon return to Pakistan. The conversations centered on finding a resolution to any legal issues that may block Nawaz’s return, and it was emphasized that a resolution would be reached quickly.
On the pretense of being unwell, Nawaz has been residing in London since 2019 after being found guilty in a corruption case.
Azam Nazeer Tarar, the Federal Minister of Law and Justice, and other legal professionals have been assembled by PM Shehbaz Sharif’s legal team to pursue more Nawaz Sharif charges.
According to reports cited by ARY News, the committee would expedite the process of dismissing further charges brought against Nawaz and its disqualification to eliminate any legal obstacles to his return to Pakistan.
In June and December of last year, respectively, the Pakistan Supreme Court declared Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Khan Tareen ineligible. After being determined to be “dishonest” in accordance with Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution, the two leaders were disqualified.
