On the impending elections in Karnataka, Shah predicted that the BJP will easily pass the halfway point and establish a firm majority in the state’s legislature.
“The BJP will surely reach the halfway point and establish the government with an overwhelming majority in Karnataka. We will win record mandate,” Shah asserted, ruling out any partnership in the state.
He said that reservations based on religion are illegal, citing the recent decision by the Karnataka government to eliminate quotas on the basis of religion. He said that the Congress-led administration in Karnataka made the mistake because of polarization, and that it had to be fixed sooner.
The charges about the abuse of investigative agencies against the opposition leaders were dismissed by the minister of the interior. Shah said that although the Congress administration imprisoned innocent police personnel, we never placed blame on the opposition.
According to Shah, the BJP won the elections in 2014 and 2019 on the platform of fighting corruption. He said that of the 1.10 lakh crore of assets recovered by the Enforcement Directorate, just 5% belonged to political figures. Shah questioned whether or not to continue the battle against corruption if the accused was a politician.
The Home Minister enquired as to who had brought legal action against Lalu Prasad Yadav and despatched a planeload of officers out of Delhi to detain Shaikh Abdullah.
Shah said that thousands of innocent people were imprisoned for the duration of the Emergency for 19 months due to the abuse of agencies, and he questioned who was responsible. He said that it was his grandmother, Indira Gandhi.
Shah said that the Shiv Sena and the BJP were what the people of Maharashtra wanted and that the genuine Shiv Sena is now a part of the BJP. There is no dispute about the merging of Shiv Sena, and I also acknowledge that the BJP could have established the government in Maharashtra on its own, he said.
He suggested that the Congress reflect on its role in corruption. In Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, there is a tremendous sense of animosity against the Congress regimes. He predicted that we will easily win the Madhya Pradesh elections.

Any conflict between the administration and the courts was disregarded by the home minister.
