Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, said that in two to two and a half years, Mumbai’s roadways will be free of potholes. At a Saturday gathering, Shinde also attacked the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), claiming that if city road concretization had been finished sooner, fewer people would have died in accidents.
The CM said that all roads in Mumbai will be concreted and devoid of potholes in two to two and a half years. He was speaking at a party where Tukaram Kate, a former Shiv Sena MLA who belonged to the Thackeray group, joined the Shinde-led Shiv Sena with a former Thackeray faction corporator and six former Congress corporators.
People had to drive on pothole-filled tar roads that were constructed in the past, according to Shinde. Between 1997 and 2022, the financially thriving Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation was under the leadership of the united Shiv Sena, which was initially headed by Bal Thackeray and afterwards by his son Uddhav Thackeray.
